God is the only one who can handle revenge with a pure heart and distribute judgment justly.
Revenge generally has no boundaries or guiding principles. Revenge is totally led by carnality and fleshy emotions. It’s extremely addictive and works against our inner man.
(Excerpt from the book Women Risktakers 2 - By Dr. Patricia Bailey)
I’m so excited about this subject, and I trust you will find as much joy in reading it as I did in writing it. My desire for you as my sister is to gain as much revelation as I have while spending intimate time with the Father. May the revelation of everything that our Lord Jesus endeavors for us to embrace come forth with forensic clarity! In all of your getting in this chapter, I pray that you may gain understanding. Understanding of your rights, your choices, and your ability to stand for what you know is your God-given inheritance. I’m trusting that the fruit of patience will develop greater in your life through this chapter.
Revenge generally has no boundaries or guiding principles. Revenge is totally led by carnality and fleshy emotions. It’s extremely addictive and works against our inner man. Revenge, strife and confusion, as a result of the bait of the enemy’s luring, takes one captive at his own will. The act of revenge thirsts for punishment, and it is not satisfied until the opponent suffers in some way. It is very subtle in its nature because it is clothed and disguised as justification. Revenge carries the baggage of entitlement, a sense of I deserve to get back at that person because of what they did to me.
Retaliation is the cousin to revenge, it is the immediate emotion that follows. If you know that there is an area in your life that gives you that uneasy feeling in the pit of your stomach, or even the thought of a person gives you a knot in your belly, it’s time to let it go. Release is the only power that will supersede the pain and agony of hurt. Remember, any person that you elect not to forgive, will always have power over you.
I’m challenging you to empower yourself by opening that closed door of forgiveness. Revenge and unforgiveness is a trap of the enemy to ultimately defeat you. This goes far beyond a test. It’s the willingness to prove the Word of God. The true test is the test of God’s Word. He said if we are not willing to forgive those who have wronged us, then our Father in heaven won’t forgive us. The extended forgiving hand is always on top of the unforgiving hand. That person or that incident is not worth excluding yourself from the forgiving power of God.
